Redeemer University has launched its next strategic plan, Every Career and Calling. The new plan is a guiding map, leading the university into a changing academic landscape, aiming to expand Kingdom impact. The plan derives its name from Redeemer’s mission, grounding it in the founding purpose, while fostering innovation and ensuring financial sustainability.

The plan casts a 10-year vision to guide the university through its next decade:

Redeemer is thriving as the leading Canadian Christian university, engaging many kinds of learners in a wide array of relevant programs, where teaching, research and thought leadership are rooted in Jesus Christ and his love for all creation.

This longer-term dynamic approach to strategic planning is a flexible, iterative approach that ensures mission alignment while adapting to the changing needs of the university. The move beyond static planning encourages continuous learning and improvement, responsiveness to trends in higher education and collaboration and innovation across departments.

“Every Career and Calling is deeply rooted in the university’s mission, leading us to grow the reach and impact of Reformed Christian university education in Canada over the next decade,” says president Dr. David Zietsma. “As we strengthen existing programs, develop new learning opportunities, and invest in campus facilities over the longer term, this strategic vision keeps all new initiatives anchored in the mission of preparing students to reflect the love of Jesus Christ in every career and calling.”

… this strategic vision keeps all new initiatives anchored in the mission of preparing students to reflect the love of Jesus Christ in every career and calling.

The plan is divided into three phases. The first phase of the plan, Beyond Learn. Forward. 2025 to 2028, builds on the good work of the previous strategic plan and lays the foundation for the university’s growth.

After significant stakeholder consultation, three key themes for this phase have emerged, including surveys and focus groups with students, employees, the university board and the larger support community. The first theme, aimed at deepening the integration of learning and discipleship, will foster active faith in a transformative community that disciples students through and alongside their academic studies. The second theme, to expand academic programming and delivery methods, will see Redeemer pursue a distinctly Christian posture of innovation that improves and extends the impact of the formative four-year undergraduate degree to new programming, delivery methods and kinds of learners. The third theme marks an effort to advance professional working culture that enhances the student and employee experience through improved collaboration, efficiency and productivity.
